Division Requirements

Kids: Open to ages 12 and under, no experience required just an enthusiasm for decorating

Amateur: Open to all Hobbyists, bakers, cake decorators, and non-professionals who may or may not have either won or entered a previous competition.

Professional: Open to all professional cake artists, pastry chefs, cake decorators and teachers. Entrants should have either won or entered at least two (2) previous competitions.

Create a gingerbread a house, building, or iconic New York landmark decorated to fit this year’s theme: Candy NYC!

All submissions must be dropped off at N.Y. Cake on Friday, December 6th, 8:30 – 11:00 am.

Rules & Regulations

  1. Baseboard max size 14”
  2. The board should have feet underneath to be able to move it for judging. A smaller cake drum (2” smaller) may be glued to act as feet.
  3. The finished board needs to trimmed with ribbon or trim of choice or stained/finished wood
  4. Other than the cake board, everything else must be edible.
  5. You can use any edible medium or organic material (like dried rosemary, etc.).
  6. We will award higher points for hand skills, piping, modeling.
  7. Use of molds, extruders, cutters etc. are all allowed
  8. There is no height restriction
  9. All entries must be delivered to NY Cake on Friday, December 6th between 8:30 – 11:00 am. No entries will be accepted past 11:00 am.
  10. Judges’ picks will remain on display until January 6, 2020.
  11. All other entries must be picked up by Saturday, December 7, 2019 by 6:00 pm
  12. If a competitor does not pick up by required date, N.Y. Cake reserves the right to dispose contestants’ work.

Holiday Gingerbread Cookie Set Competition

Register now to compete in our Holiday Gingerbread Cookie Set Competition!

Create a cookie platter, board, or presentation containing 6 cookies, decorated to represent this year’s competition category: Candy NYC.

All submissions must be dropped off at N.Y. Cake on Friday, December 6th, 8:30-11 am.

Rules & Regulations
  1. Cookie arrangement can be flat or 2D/3D, but it must include only a total of 6 complete cookies.
  2. Each contestant must present their cookies on a platter, board, or presentation form of their choice ( max size 14“) 
  3. All submissions must be delivered to N.Y. Cake on Friday, December 6th, between 8:30 and 11:00 am. No submissions will be accepted past 11:00 am. 
  4. All submissions must be entirely edible
    Tip: They can be decorated with royal icing, Rolled fondant, isomalt, etc.
  5. Judges will award higher points for use of hand skills like piping, painting, etc.
  6. Judges’ picks will remain on display at N.Y. Cake until January 6, 2020.
  7. Aside from judge’s picks, all other entries must be picked up by Saturday, December 7, 2019 by 6:00 pm. Judge’s picks can be picked up on January 6, 2020, and they must be picked up by 6:00 pm on January 6th. 
  8. If a competitor does not pick up by required date, N.Y. Cake reserves the right to dispose of contestants’ work.

LIVE! Gingerbread House Competition!

This competition category is only open to professionals.

For a chance to compete in our LIVE Gingerbread House competition please fill out the application located at the link below. Along with completing the submission form, each application will also require three images of your previous work. 

Selected participants will be contacted by November 24th and given further details. 

Winners will be announced at our award ceremony which will take place from 6:00 to 7:00 pm on December 6th.

Rules & Regulations

  2. This competition category is only available to professionals.
    Professional: Open to all professional cake artists, pastry chefs, cake decorators and teachers. Entrants should have either won or entered at least two (2) previous competitions.
  3. Friday, December 6th, 12:00 – 2:00 pm you will have 2 hours to finish your house completely
  4. No Size Limit
  5. Designs should adhere to competition theme: Candy NYC
  6. The structure has to be 70% (gingerbread or edible)
  7. House structure may be built in advance with the finishing touches to compete with on Friday, December 6th,  12:00  –  2:00 pm
  8. Judging for the Live Holiday Gingerbread Competition will begin at 2:00 pm.
  9. Winners will be announced during our competition award ceremony, which will take place at 6:00 pm on December 6th.
