Attention vacationing bakers (or aspiring bakers). While you’re in town, stop in to  NY CAKE newest location which open on Thursday, October 18th at 118 West 22nd Street (between 6th and 7th Ave).  The NYC institution  will feature its first-ever café, an expanded academy and a retail space. The new store almost double in size, offers 5700 square feet of retail and baking space. If there’s  a special baking tool you can’t find back home, it’s probably here— and in probably in a dozen different color options. The third-generation, family-owned baking business will be led by Joan Mansour, cake decorating pioneer and her daughters, Jenny Kashanian, who will manage the retail operations and the development of the NY CAKE branded products, and Lisa Mansour, a world-renowed and award-winning cake decorator who will oversee the café and Academy. Check out this new location’s fresh features:

  • The Café – Situated at the front of the store, the 6-seat “grab and go”-style café will have a full coffee and tea bar and will offer NY CAKE signature cakes, macarons, and cream puffs made fresh on premise daily. The café will also feature a rotating seasonal menu of over 20 different items including a holiday croquembouche made from the Mansour family recipe and is the same recipe that is used for their custom cream puffs.
  • NY CAKE Academy– The redesigned Academy features a brand-new state-of-the-art kitchen complete with double deck ovens, chocolate tempering machines, KitchenAid induction ranges, and refrigerators that will allow award-winning cake decorator and co-owner Lisa Mansour and her guest instructors more creative freedom. Accommodating up to 22 students per class or 30 students standing, class offerings include: cake decorating, wedding cake workshops, holiday-related instruction throughout the year, kids classes, piping techniques, fall macaron-making, gluten-free bread-making, sugar flowers, and more. (Prices range from $40-$595 for a 3-day workshop).
  • Retail Store – The remainder of the space is dedicated to the retail store managed by Jenny Kashanian who oversees the operation’s extensive lineup of product offerings which now includes an expanded line of branded NY CAKE product. With the additional space, they are able to grow their retail business by 30%, and are launching new NY CAKE products such as jeweled cake stands, cake molds, edible decorations, and much more. The expanded operation is designed to better serve baking enthusiasts of all levels while proudly continuing their tradition of being New York’s one-stop-shop for all cake decorating and baking needs.
