Palette Knife Art
Embrace your inner van Gogh and learn the art behind this trending technique! In the fourth of five Buttercream Essentials Certificate classes, brought to you by NY Cake Academy’s Cake Decorating Fundamentals, you’ll learn this recently adapted process to artistically place forms of color and texture using palette knives. Commonly used to create striking, two-dimensional flowers, these decorations purposely do not aim to mimic real life flowers. The result is a rich, intense visual display that appears abstract and modern, much like a painting! Explore different strokes through palette knife drills before learning to create an edible artist palette to begin decorating your very own Palette Knife Flower Cake using Italian Meringue Buttercream.
What You’ll Learn:
-Spatula, Silicone Small
-Difference between various types of buttercream
-How to use a piping bag, couplers and tips
-To assemble a cake with a nut paste filling
-Practice decorating using a turntable
-Various palette knives and their application
-Practice palette knife techniques and drills
-To create and blend colored buttercream
-How to use gold for finishing
NY Cake Academy classes are held in our Manhattan flagship at 118 W 22nd St. All supplies and materials included, but if you require any special accomodations please don't hesitate to contact us at custom@nycakeacademy.com. Our classes are hands-on, interactive experiences. So, please dress accordingly. We recommend wearing casual clothing that you won’t mind getting a little sugar on, and flat comfortable shoes. Open toed shoes and sandals are not recommended as this is a safety concern when working within a kitchen. Long hair should be tied back.
